With still two weeks to go before the kickoff of the film competition, it has already reached 59% of last year’s total ticket sales, which set a new Festival record
The lineup proposal for the 50th anniversary of the Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is luring. That’s what can be deciphered from the first ticket sales numbers: during the first two days, the amount of tickets sold has increased 47.24% in comparison with last year, that already had record-breaking numbers. Ticket purchases for the Festival –to be held from 5 to 15 October– can be made via the Festival’s own website: www.sitgesfilmfestival.com
The Festival commenced its ticket sales on Tuesday (on Monday is offered its presale for the owners of packs purchased in July) and on the first day, it already registered an increase of 51.37% in tickets sold compared with the first day for Sitges 2016. In other words, while last year at the end of the first day 20,227 had been sold, this Tuesday –twelve hours after opening the sales system–30,617 had been sold. The second day of sales (yesterday, Wednesday) there was also a significant increase of 11.50% in comparison with the same day in 2016. The total sum in comparison with the same day last year represents an increase of 47.24% in ticket sales and passes. With the Festival opening still two weeks away, it has already reached 59% of the sales registered last year, when the numbers from previous years were crushed.
These figures demonstrate the interest the Festival’s 50th edition has aroused among its loyal audience, that has welcomed the Festival’s lineup and activities proposals with clear interest. Ticket sales continue today at a good pace through its website. The Festival boasts four theaters (Auditorio Meliá Sitges, El Retiro, Casino Prado and Tramuntana), as well as other screens with free showings, programming intense screenings with the best fantastic genre films from around the planet.
Added to the names Guillermo del Toro, Susan Sarandon, William Friedkin, Frank Langella, Jaume Balagueró, Álex de la Iglesia, Dario Argento or Santiago Segura, who will be present in Sitges, are those of a large number of other guests who will be announced over the next few days and who will be accompanying a lineup presenting the fantastic cinema of the new millennium as seen through different perspectives.
