Sitges Pitchbox 2017 grows stronger and goes more international
Horror, science fiction and fantasy feature length film projects can now be entered to be eligible for one of the seven to be selected
It’s the kick off of a new edition of Sitges Pitchbox, the pitching event organized by the Filmarket Hub online platform in association with the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. Starting July 5th and until August 30th, those screenwriters, directors and producers who have a genre project in the development stage can enter.
The third Sitges Pitchbox, the international pitching event organized by the Filmarket Hub online platform in association with the Sitges Film Festival, starts today. Screenwriters, directors or producers who have a horror, science fiction or fantasy feature length film in the development stages can enter it until September 3th.
Among all the candidate projects, seven will be selected to make a pitch in front of producers and companies from the film sector this upcoming October 6th as part of the Festival, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. They will subsequently enjoy a networking session with all those attending in the Hotel Meliá garden.
This new edition will also offer an attractive prize pool for the participating projects. Thanks to the Barcelona Diputación City Council, a 6.000€ prize will be awarded to the best project, plus two other prizes that will cover travel expenses to attend and present the project at the BIFAN -Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (South Korea) and at the GuadalajaraInternational Film Festival (Mexico). One of the seven projects will also be selected to participate in The Crouching Tigers Project Lab, a co-production and co-financing encounter as a part of the activities at the International Film Festival & Awards · Macao.
In addition, like last year the two best Catalan projects from the open call will be selected to participate in a second pitching event at Blood Window, the fantastic film section at the Ventana Sur market, the most important in Latin America. Those responsible for the projects will be a part of the Catalan delegation, organized by Catalan Films & TV, travelling to Buenos Aires from November 27th to December 1st.
In order to be a candidate for Sitges Pitchbox 2017, the project must be entered on the Filmarket Hub online market and participation must be requested via the open call website. This way, in addition to being eligible for one of the seven selected, the project can connect online with the entire network of producers and companies on the platform.
