Blood Window, an open door into Latin American fantastic cinema, now in Sitges
Among the new elements at the 47th Sitges- International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is its alliance with the fantastic cinema brand created by the Ventana Sur market: Blood Window. This new category will be dedicated to the emerging fantastic cinema produced in Latin America and will have a mainly cross-sectional nature; in other words, it will bring together the productions from this continent selected in the Festival’s different categories. This space will also have room for films from the category itself, as well as possible retrospective-type programs. An international jury will present the award for best Latin American fantastic genre production.
At the same time, Blood Window and Sitges are studying ways for the Festival to be present during the Ventana Sur market in Buenos Aires, and of implementing cooperation in co-production and the generation of talent and its industry appeal. This way, Sitges aims to create bonds between the main Latin American festivals specializing in fantastic cinema or which have categories dedicated to genre. With these measures, the alliance between Sitges and Blood Window aspires to cater to the unstoppable emerging phenomenon of fantastic cinema in Latin America
