QUENTIN TARANTINO RETURNS TO SITGES
Attending the Festival for the third time will be one of the most influential directors in recent year, Quentin Tarantino. This time he'll be here as a producer to present the film HOSTEL, by Eli Roth (Cabin Fever). The director will be attending the festival from October 11th to the 14th.
The festival will also be welcoming all the previously announced big names in international film and distinguished genre representatives like David Cronenberg, Viggo Mortensen, Jodie Foster, Sally Poter, Chiaki Kuriyama, Park Chan-Wook'
Another highlight is the attendance of Catalan creator Carlos Grangel, the character designer for CORPSE BRIDE.
Important national stars like Leonardo Sbaraglia, Laia Marull, Goya Toledo, Elena Anaya, Cristina Piaget, Lola Marceli, Paulina Gálvez.
The line established by this section leaves behind the genre clichés in recent years (legends, fears...) and approaches places reserved until now for drama, comedy, or socially committed film.

NEW SECTION: MIDNIGHT X-TREME
The special screenings have become a section in itself emphasizing quality while not forgetting the transgressive element and the hand of top-quality filmmakers who, some day, will be competing in the Official Fantàstic Section. A selection of films that are better enjoyed at midnight and that are completed with proposals like The + zombie night.
14 works in video format chosen from between 300 will compete for the Brigadoon Award, in the Festival's most alternative section. Complementary activities and a special with the launching of a DVD of the most outstanding films from actor and director PAUL NASCHY.

JAWS 30th anniversary
Jodie Foster ' SITGES' GRAND HONORARY AWARD
Johnnie To, Lisa Henson (The Jim Henson Company), the crew from JAWS, Bill Plympton and Alex de la Iglesia will be receiving the MÀQUINES DEL TEMPS (TIME MACHINE) Award.
Julio Fernández, HONORARY MARIA AWARD for his contribution, with Filmax, to the creation of national genre factory of international scope. And the same award will be going to the Japanese company SQUARE ENIX CO. LTD., creators of the FINAL FANTASY VII videogame, for their venture in the field of digital innovation.
